The Meltdown Momma

Have you ever lost it while trying to keep everything together, balancing your busy social calendar with your career while trying to be the best mother you could be?

Do you ever feel like you’re burning the candle at both ends and in the middle?

Do you feel like you’re constantly coming up short in successfully integrating work, life, wifedom, and motherhood?

Yeah, me too.

Trust me. I get it. I’ve been there. All of us goal-setting, hard-charging, ambitious mothers have.

If you’re anything like me, you want to set and reach your goals without having to put them on the backburner to raise your family; feel secure during those times when most mothers feel lost and overwhelmed; and regain your sanity while you successfully integrate your busy life with your demanding career.

If only it were possible! (It is.)

Right now, you’re reading blog after blog taking in the stories of all of the mothers who seem to have everything together. You’re tired of looking at the #MomGoals pictures on Instagram because you’re not sure how and if you’ll ever measure up. You’ve abandoned the Facebook mommy groups because all they basically amount to is public mom shaming.

You probably avoid communicating with family (and some friends) many of the decisions you’ve made for your family because you just can’t deal with all the judgment and extra advice that comes along with it. You might even be ready to fall asleep while reading this page – not because you’re not interested, but because you’ve been up all night working towards your goals while your little ones are sound asleep.

I get it. I’m just like you.

I’ve been there. The only difference between you and me is that I’ve learned how to take my failures and turn them into triumphs. Seriously. I’ve discovered some powerful success strategies and tools that I use daily to cope with my sense of overwhelm, conquer my mommyhood insecurities, and reach my professional and parenting goals.

I’m Domonique Townsend, and I am THE original Meltdown Momma.

I am a devoted, loving, and supportive wife, an energetic and involved mother of three, and an ambitious and passionate industrial engineer. Today, I am the picture of happiness – the quintessential picture of #MomGoals – but, just like everyone else, I still have moments of self-doubt and insecurity. The peace I have today was not always present. I am, after all, the Meltdown Momma. Want to know how I got there?

Let me explain…

I experienced my first public meltdown (keyword: public) after I had just given birth to my third child, a daughter, and was attempting to plan a birthday party for my oldest son. I was completely and totally overwhelmed. I wanted to provide the best birthday bash possible for my oldest, while trying to provide the love and care for my newborn. That day, I was at my wit’s end. I had gotten little sleep, and I was operating on fumes.

And then it happened. I snapped.

While I had many, many meltdowns before, this one was the mother of all meltdowns. This one forced me to abandon my ‘everything is perfect’ façade. This one forced me to be my most vulnerable self, leaving behind the ‘supermom’ role I had created for myself.

I broke down in front of my world. I cried. I felt ashamed. It seemed to me that my dream of being a good mother was a far-fetched fantasy I would never be able to manifest.

Days later, my breakthrough happened.

I started asking myself why I felt ashamed at being overwhelmed. I realized it was my responsibility to define what being a good mother is for my children. I decided that my definition of ‘good’ motherhood would not be based on the opinions of others. I realized that I was not alone. This was the beginning of Meltdown Momma.

I consider it a part of my personal mission to encourage, support, and inspire working mothers to create the lives they want for themselves and their families. Mothers like us need to know that overwhelm should not be a source of shame or guilt. Mothers like us need to feel empowered to define our roles on our own terms. Mothers like us need to be reassured that our lives have value outside of motherhood and it is totally fine and possible to pursue the dreams we had before, during, and after our little ones came into the world.

Through Meltdown Momma, I blend my extensive project management experience as a rockstar engineer with my successes and failures as a committed mother to create one-of-a-kind experiences and products specifically for the ambitious, career-driven and loving mother on the go.

I work with mothers who want to:

Increase their confidence level as a mother;
Successfully navigate their moments of overwhelm;
Increase their level of satisfaction with work and life;
Improve their productivity so that they have more quality time to pursue the activities they love; and
Be inspired and empowered to make decisions for themselves and their family.

I’ve pretty much mastered the art of meltdown. I’ve already experienced extreme self-doubt and crippling insecurity as it relates to the decisions I made for my family. I am beyond that. And, I want you to move beyond it, too.

When you do this, you’ll be able to master work-life integration. You’ll be able to move your goals from the backburner to the front while successfully raising your family. You’ll be able to feel so confident and so secure in your decisions that all those wagging tongues of outsiders will stop (or at least you’ll be able to ignore them better). You’ll be able to finally regain your sanity and inject a wealth of peace into your life.

I have had the pleasure of helping scores of mothers do just that with Meltdown Momma’s tailor-made products and services. Simply put, I provide a transparent look into my personal journey, leveraging my professional experience, to support mothers around the world.

I’m here to tell you that you are not alone.
